SBY says his office "small and not luxurious"

As he stood in front of the entrance to his office building awaiting the arrival of former British prime minister Tony Blair, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono commented to journalists;

"My colleague reporters have you made attention to my office?" the President said while pointing to the entrance door to his office, seemingly to ease his anxiety about the late arrival of his guest.

"My office, if compared to other offices, is like earth and space, isn't it?" Yudhoyono reflected.

"But the most important thing is productivity. It is not about the lavishness or the expensiveness of the room and its furnishings," the President added.

"I hope all officials in this country can follow my lead. The less expensive [your offices] are [the more we can spend on] our people," he said.

Last week, before meeting with former Indonesian Military (TNI) generals, Yudhoyono made a very similar statement. He told reporters about his modest working quarters at the State Palace.
