Sutan Bhatoegana Named Graft Suspect
Jakarta. Democratic party lawmaker Sutan Bhatoegana was named as a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday over a bribery scandal at Indonesia's oil-and-gas regulator, SKK Migas.
"In connection with the SKK Migas case development, there are corruption allegations related to the deliberation of the 2013 revised-state budget for the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the KPK has named S.B. a suspect," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said on Wednesday.
Johan said that Sutan was named as suspect in his capacity as the chairman of the House of Representatives' Commission VII, which oversees energy and mineral resources, and will be charged under articles 11 and 12 of the 1999 Anti-Corruption Law.
Sutan's named was mentioned during the trial of Rudi Rubiandini, the disgraced former chief of SKK Migas. He allegedly received $200,000 from Rudi via Commission VII member Tri Yulianto for his role as the chairman of the commission.
Tri asked for money from Rudi, claiming that Sutan had demanded Idul Fitri tunjangan hari raya "holiday bonuses" for members of the commission.
Sutan denies the allegation.
