Sari Roti Maker Aims for 25% Increase in Sales on Higher Capacity

Jakarta. Nippon Indosari Corpindo, producer of Sari Roti bread, is targeting as much as a 25 percent increase in revenue this year as it increases production capacity and introduces new products.

The company is aiming to increase its sales revenue by 20 percent to 25 percent this year from Rp 1.5 trillion ($132 million) last year, Nippon Indosari spokesman Stephen Orlando told reporters on Thursday.

"Demand is strong for our products, and we will also add new kinds of breads," Stephen said.

He said this year the company has released three new products and plans to add two more: a pancake with red bean known as dorayaki, and mini buns. Its line of products include white bread, sweet bread and sandwiches.

Stephen said that Nippon Indosari built two new factories last year, in Pasuruan and Cikande, and these will start operations by the end of April.

The two plants will bring its total number of factories to 10 with daily production capacity at about 4 million pieces of bread, Stephen said. That would be an increase from 3.5 million pieces per day at the end of 2013.

This year the company will also invest Rp 120 billion to revitalize and maintain its machineries and other production facilities, Stephen said. Nippon Indosari secured a Rp 100 billion loan from Bank Central Asia earlier this month, which will partly be used for its capital expenditure.

Last year the company spent more than Rp 300 billion to build the plants in Cikande and Pasuruan.

Indoritel Makmur Internasional, an investment company affiliated with the Salim Group, now controls 32 percent of Nippon Indosari after it acquired shares last year. Indoritel also has a 40 percent stake in Indomaret, a minimarket chain, and a 36 percent stake in Fast Food Indonesia, which is the franchise holder of KFC in Indonesia.

Shares of Nippon Indosari rose 0.4 percent to Rp 1,135 in Jakarta trading on Thursday, while the main stock measure gained 0.5 percent. Financial markets will be closed Friday for the Good Friday holiday.
