Google is now building self-driving cars with no steering wheel or pedals
Published May 28, 2014Google is now actually building the self-driving car from the ground up instead of converting other cars into self-driving vehicles. Google says they are fully exploring what a future with self-driving cars could actually look like. Think about reading a book while you travel, or spending quality time with your children. Seniors can maintain their independence; drunk and distracted driving will be a thing of the past.
Google's official blog posted an update yesterday stating the new cars do not have a steering wheel or even pedals to control the speed. There is simply a go and stop button to take you on your journey. The cars are equipped with sensors that detect blind spots and other objects around them, up to a distance of two football fields. The car's have a capped speed of 40km/h and the inside was designed for function and learning.

Google has invented a self-driving car, for real!
The car is purposefully designed to look cute with a to make people feel good about the idea of a self-driving car.
Google is planning to build about a hundred of these prototype self-driving cars. They will test them over the next couple of years and plan to learn "a lot from this experience". If all goes well, Google hopes to bring this technology worldwide one day.
