| Pretoria, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Raul Castro paid tribute today here to the late South African leader Nelson Mandela, at his coffin exposed at the Union Buildings executive headquarters. During a ceremony held in Soweto on Tuesday, the Cuban president stated that the former head of the South African state was an example of integrity and perseverance in the fight to reduce poverty in the world.
Raul Castro was one of the main speakers who participated that day at the memorial service and tribute to Mandela, organized by the government and relatives at the FNB Stadium.
The Cuban president made a global call to arrange efforts for peace among all nations, as the exhortation Mandela always advocated.
Raul Castro also held a consultation meeting today with his South African peer Jacob Zuma, and laid a wreath at the Freedom Park memorial museum, located in Salvokop, Pretoria.
This monument includes the names of soldiers fallen for the liberation of South Africa, among them those of hundreds of Cubans who died in southern Africa during the fighting against the racist regime's army in late 20th century.

Pretoria, 12 dic (PL) El presidente de Cuba, Raúl Castro, rindió tributo hoy aquí al fallecido líder sudafricano Nelson Mandela, ante su féretro expuesto en el edificio ejecutivo de Union Buildings.
Durante una ceremonia en Soweto el martes último, el mandatario cubano destacó que el exjefe de Estado sudafricano fue un ejemplo de integridad y perseverancia en la lucha por reducir la pobreza en el mundo.
Raúl Castro fue uno de los principales oradores que participaron ese día en el funeral y homenaje a Mandela organizado por el gobierno y familiares en el Estadio FNB.
El Jefe de Estado cubano, quien fue ovacionado al entrar a la instalación conocida como Soccer City, hizo un llamado a la concertación global de esfuerzos para la paz entre todas las naciones, como la exhortación que siempre Mandela preconizó, dijo.
Raúl Castro sostuvo también este jueves una reunión de consulta con su homólogo sudafricano, Jacob Zuma, y depositó una ofrenda floral en el museo memorial de Freedom Park, ubicado en la localidad de Salvokop.
Este monumento incluye los nombres de soldados caídos por la liberación de Sudáfrica, entre ellos los de cientos de cubanos que murieron en el sur del continente durante los combates contra el ejército del régimen racista a finales del siglo anterior.
