Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and the Netherlands have announced that 22 organizations will provide funds for Indonesian student scholarships through the "Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS)" program.

"For the academic year 2014-2015, 22 organizations have participated in the OTS program, including the government, private entities and universities," said Director of Nuffic Neso in Indonesia, Mervin Bakker, at a press briefing here on Friday.

Indonesias Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Communication and Informatics and 19 universities from the Netherlands, including the University of Amsterdam, University of Twente, Rotterdam Business School, Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences and Zuyd University of Applied Sciences have participated in the scheme.

"Air France-KLM, a Dutch company, also participated in the scholarship program," added Bakker.

The OTS has 27 schemes under which 86 scholarships will be offered for bachelors and masters degrees, as well as for some foundation level courses.

According to Bakker, Nuffic Neso has succeeded in increasing the number of scholarships for Indonesian students for 2014-2015. The OTS program in 2013-2014 offered only 40 scholarships from 19 organizations.

The 2013-2014 scholarships were worth more than 600,000 euros and offered by 16 Dutch higher education institutes, two Indonesian Ministries and one Dutch company.

"We are very happy that OTS will provide greater chances for the scholarship recipients to study in a high-quality educational system, which will support their development and make them creative and pioneering individuals," he said.

As this years program funds have been pooled from various organizations, the 2014-2015 OTS theme is "joint investment for the future".

Bakker said Nuffic Neso encourages all Indonesian students and young professionals to apply to the OTS program. He added that the Netherlands offers a safe, sociable and tolerant environment, besides a high quality of education.

"Student alumni from the Netherlands often call the Netherlands as a home-away-from-home or second home country," he added.
