Indonesian Terrorist Who Broke Out of Medan Prison Arrested in Malaysia

Malaysian authorities have arrested an Indonesian terrorist convict who escaped from a prison in Medan in July.
"Thanks to a partnership between the Indonesian police and the Royal Malaysia Police, several days ago we managed to arrest Fadli Sadama, who escaped during a riot in Tanjung Gusta Prison," Indonesia's National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
"He has been returned to Indonesia."
Fadli was sentenced to 11 years in jail in 2011, and was not due for release until December, 2021. He was part of a terrorist network led by Toni Togar and was responsible for fundraising conducted by gun running and trading drugs.
Agus said police would investigate whether Fadli had been responsible for igniting the July 11 riot in Tanjung Gusta Prison, when more than 200 inmates escaped after storming a main gate and setting some of the prison offices on fire. Five people — three wardens and two prisoners — were killed in the incident.
Most of the inmates were recaptured shortly after the incident, while Fadli remained at large along with four fellow terrorist convicts namely Iwan Cina, Agus Sanyoto, Nibras and Abdul Gani Siregar, who were convicted in the armed robbery of Bank CIMB Niaga branch office in Medan in 2010.
The four of them were recaptured in Riau in August.
