The illegal poaching of fish is having a major effect on Senegalese fishermen. West African waters are supposed to be one of the world's richest fishing grounds. But its natural resources are rapidly depleting.

About 50 nautical miles, roughly 93km, off the coast of Senegal, industrial fishing boats are operating illegally and they are catching more fish in one day than 50 local fishing boats catch in one year, according to the environmental group Greenpeace.

Al Jazeera's Nicolas Haque reports from Joal, Senegal.
